FREEDOM IS NOT FREE
We just got done celeberating Christmas and I hope u all had a joy filled celeberation? Did you know that in order for us to have a christmas to celeberate, a lot of people took a lot of risk.God the Father took the risk of allowing His Son to become fully human, something that had never happened before. It was a risk considering the fact that one of His closest associates - Lucifer when given the opportunity turned against Him. What if His Son who was to be born with free will decided on arriving the earth as human to turn His back on dad?
Jesus risked everything when He decided to leave the glories of heaven to come hang out with fallen men in a fallen world plus allow himself to experience physical pain which He had no prior experience of.
Mary put her life on the line when she chose to accept Gabriel's offer from God to become pregnant. How was she gong to prove to anyone especially Joseph that she was still a virgin? How would she prove she was not an adulteress deserving death by stoning? How did she leave with the village gossip for 33 years about her Son until He performed His first miracle and other signs and wonders which eventually convinced a few that she was right 33 years ago - He is the Son of God, He was not concieved of the seed of man. She did not cheat on Joseph.
Joseph put his reputation and that of his family on the line when he chose not to divorce Mary and embraced Jesus as his son. How did he live with the possibility of his peers disassociating themselves from him because he was living with a woman that was pregnant with child from 'another man'?
The wise men put their lives and reputation on the line when after promising Herod they will return back to him with news of where Jesus was found decided on the instruction of God through a dream to break their promise to Herod and returned home through a different route.
ALL THESE PEOPLE RISKED EVERYTHING TO MAKE THE FIRST CHRISTMAS POSSIBLE. THE PRICE THEY PAID bought the freedom we have today in Christ. The risk they took allowed the promise of God to Simeon be fulfilled - that he will not die until his eyes behold the Messiah. Their risk which only proofs their faith makes christmas an every year reality. What price are you willing to pay for the will of God to be made manifest in your life? WHAT RISK ARE YOU WILLING TO TAKE HAVING KNOWN THE WILL AND THE PLAN OF GOD FOR YOUR LIFE? WHAT PRICE ARE YOU WILLING TO PAY TO STAY FAITHFUL TO GOD? HOW LONG ARE YOU WILLING TO ENDURE TILL GOD VINDICATES YOU? FOR MARY, SHE HAD TO WAIT 33 YEARS! FREEDOM IS FREE TO YOU BECAUSE SOMEBODY ELSE PAID AND SOME ARE STILL PAYING THE PRICE. AS WE APPROACH A NEW YEAR, I HOPE YOU WILL CONSIDER WHAT PRICE YOU CAN PAY FOR ANOTHER TO EXPERIENCE SOME LEVEL OF FREEDOM AND LIBERTY IN THEIR LIFE. THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS PASS YOUR FAITH ON...AT ALL COST.
Shalom!!!
